History of Sandford-on-Thames

Sandford-on-Thames is a village beside the River Thames about 3.5 miles south of Oxford city centre. There has been a settlement here since before the Domesday survey when there were only 18 families listed. Today the population stands at about 1,200 (2011 census) and only the church stands substantially as it did then.

Long-time Sandford resident Liz Shatford has written an excellent history of the village, which can be viewed by clicking here.
